About
About Catherine Bancroft-Rimmer
I moved to Brighton in 1991 and started work in the Housing Office at the University of Sussex. From helping to get landlords and students together and sorting out any problems along the way, I then moved to managing over 50 off campus houses for the University, I also obtained a law degree and masters in law along the way (and had 2 babies – it was a busy time!). I moved to Brighton University in 2000 to manage their accommodation office, moving back to Sussex University in 2004 to do the same. After realising that there were so many “accidental” landlords out there who didn’t really know what they were doing, and being a landlord myself by now, I wrote a book, “The Landlord’s Guide to Student Letting”.
In 2009, I was asked by 3 separate landlords to manage their property and, realising how much I enjoyed getting directly involved in property management again, I decided to leave the University and run a full time letting/property management business. I had always been horrified by the cavalier way that many agents treat both their tenants and their clients and decided that what’s important to me is to keep my business personal, professional and reliable – for both landlords and tenants.
